About
At Bama Wesley, we exist for one reason: to be a place where anyone can discover their God-given identity while fulfilling their God-ordained purpose. We do this through three different focuses: upreach (orienting ourselves towards God), inreach (connecting within our Wesley community and building relationships), and outreach (extending ourselves beyond the walls of the church to connect with the larger community through service and evangelism). We want to be a place where any student – regardless of their past or present – can be part of a community on campus. We are a ministry of the United Methodist Church but our students are from increasingly diverse faith backgrounds. Wherever you are coming from, you’re welcome here.
Wesley has many events that can vary from week to week, but there are two constants every single week:
- On Monday evenings at 6:00pm, we start our week with a prayer service along with communion. This is a service led mainly by students sharing personal testimonies in an intimate environment. Just as Jesus invited all to his table, we invite all to partake in communion along with the rest of the service.
- On Wednesdays at 8:00pm we have our main service. Traditionally, this service is composed of three parts that function together: worship, a message, and small group discussion at the end. It is a staple to our ministry and is a great way to connect with other students that attend Wesley.
Beyond that, we offer a variety of small groups where students can get connected to one another all while growing closer to God. These groups range from doing activities such as playing games or sports to deeply reflecting on the way that Christ is working in one’s life in a smaller, discussion-based environment. These groups form life-long friendships and are easy to get plugged into, just talk to someone here to get plugged in!
On top of all of that, we have other events throughout the year like retreats, pumpkin patch visits, Christmas dinner, spring banquet, a chili cookout. There’s always something going on.
We hope to see you soon. Roll Tide and God Bless.
